iPod Nano rules!!!
Amazing. Just amazing. Apple blows me away. They take the best-selling MP3 player on the market, say "Nah, that's not good enough," and redesign it to make it even better. Outstanding!!

And what's even better, it's podcast-personalized!! :)

Sorry for the fuzziness of the picture. How do you take a good picture of something that's shiny chrome-plated??

bastard!
Eric, mazel tov on your purchase. May you enjoy it for years to come, or until the next really cool version comes out.
White or black? The black ones are so damn cool. I'd love it if Apple started making black everything, but shiny black like the nano... It would be cool to have an iBook that's a shiny glossy black... and it would take dirt so much better.
as to taking a good picture of something shiny and chromy... with a cellphone camera I don't think you can. ;) so, the nano is Raya's right? right?
ok. now i am logging on from home i can see the top photo. i can see it's black. :)
So. Any Rick Recht on your new Nano?
LOL. Donnie, I'd be jealous too if our positions were reversed.
Lee, I totally agree with you. How cool would a black iBook be? Much cleaner, as you said. And actually, there are places that will do this for you, but they're pricey:

I let Raya see the Nano, and even touch it. Isn't that good enough?? Actually, I offered that we could get her one, and sell off her hardly-used Shuffle, but she declined for now.
There is definitely some Rick Recht on here!! :)
Smaller is not always better. When I read about this pre-release I thought "I bet it will be fragile". Sure enough, we've all heard about the screens. The push towards miniaturization is not driven be all consumers. If I someone would market a cell phone with some heft to it and proper mouthpiece, speaker, and a big keypad then I could get my mom to use one. Someone does modify old telephone headsets for use with cell phones, but they are overpriced and they don't deal with the keypad issue.
I think that you could get a good photo of a shiny chrome plated thing if you put it next to something and focus on (center) that thing rather than the iPod.
Anonymous....thanks for the photographic tip, that would probably work!! And you're right, the miniaturization trend isn't always a good thing. However, the screen damage problem on the iPod Nano is highly overblown, IMHO. I've had mine for a month now, in and out of my pocket and my car's center console every single day, and I don't have a scratch on it. So I think the problem is not all that prevalent, and not really related to the size of the devce anyway.
For my money, and for a device I intend to carry around with me every day, smaller is definitely better. Even now with the new black and white video iPods out, I'm not jealous. I don't need 30 or 60GB of MP3s with me at all times, and one of the full size iPods would weigh down my pockets!! :)
